Blocked drains are no joke and they can be a straight-up nightmare no matter your best efforts. But the good news is there are a few ways to clear this problem that keeps happening to you. No these are simple tricks to unblock the drain and won’t have you going to the store to purchase anything expensive unless you don’t have it.
Household items for cleaning drains
All you need is a couple of household items you already have and some hot water. Blocked drains are most commonly caused by food, hair, or grease and can be fixed without a local plumber in Michigan. Most of the time a few simple fixes at home will take care of the issue.
You don’t want the issue to cost you thousands of dollars and you can have a plumber come out and inspect your plumbing and even septic system in Macomb County or Oakland County we actually encourage it we just don’t want you to rely on that fix all the time.
Clogged drains in a simple form just mean build up over time making it hard for water to pass through and that’s how you get clogged toilets and sinks the water has nowhere to go but backward.
The trick to clearing blocked drains with hot water
Hot water with baking soda and vinegar can do the fix most times or just a plunger. Sometimes you may need that plumber for the fix because you have a cracked toilet seal or a busted pipe but for clogged drains, it can be a simple home fix.
One or two times a year a drain cleaning from a local plumber isn’t a bad idea. Sometimes the cheapest way to unblock and drain is steaming hot water poured down the drain. Let it stand in the drain for a few minutes. But if it’s still standing that means the clog is still there you want the water to run down the drain.
Use a plunger like the one you use for your toilet it doesn’t have to be the toilet size but it doesn’t hurt. You just have to create a seal with the plunger with hot water in the sink and start pumping. After a few good pumps take the plunger off and see if the water drains. Repeat the process a few times until the drain is clear.
Chemical-free drain cleaner
Using a chemical-free solution is vinegar and baking soda. Remove all the water from the sink that you can and pour a cup of baking soda down the drain and then the vinegar and let it sit for 15 minutes and run hot water down the drain and that should help clear the clog. You can call a local Michigan drain cleaner if[ need be.
